                                          THE SAFEGUARDS

In creating "safe places for ALL teens" we need to                              have certain important boundaries to make this
                    happen:

                   1) No adults are alone with any teen EVER.

                   2) Our social media sites are always monitored with
the same above principle. Any "direct messaging" is
not allowed unless there is at least another adult in the
message. "safety in numbers" is our policy

                   3)  All volunteers are mandated reporters.  This means
that any jokes or talk from teens that suggest child
abuse, suicide, or violence to oneself or others must be
reported by law to authorities.  Even if the comment
seems harmless it still must be reported by law.  We
like for this boundary to be made known and repeated
ahead of time so that students are not "caught off
guard" when we have to make that call.
